New Delhi: Rishi Sunak, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, has expressed his pride in his Hindu roots and hopes to find time to visit a temple during his stay in India for the G20 Summit. He also conveyed his enormous respect for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressed his desire to support him in making the G20 Summit a great success.
Speaking exclusively to ANI, Sunak stated, "I am a proud Hindu. That's how I was raised, that's how I am. Hopefully, I can visit the Mandir while I am here for the next couple of days. We just had Rakshabandhan, so from my sister and my cousin, I have all my Rakhis."
He added, "I didn't have time to celebrate Janmashtami. But hopefully, as I said, I can make up for that if we visit a Mandir this time." Sunak emphasized the importance of faith in his life, describing it as a source of strength and resilience, especially in his demanding role.
Regarding his relationship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sunak expressed his enormous respect for Modi and their shared ambition to conclude an ambitious and comprehensive trade deal between India and the UK. He also expressed his support for Prime Minister Modi in making the G20 Summit a success for India.
Sunak described his visit to India as "fantastic" and mentioned his special connection to the country, particularly Bangalore, where his wife Akshata Murthy is from. He expressed his desire to visit one of their favorite restaurants in Bangalore.
In his current role, Sunak is proud to represent the UK in forging closer links with India and contributing to India's success on the world stage.
